The Manifestation Trap
If you’ve been around for a while you’ll know I think ‘manifestation’ is a horribly bastardised concept.
Thanks to all the books, influencers and documentaries people are under the illusion that if you want something bad enough, and you sit around visualising it, then it’ll happen.
Minimal effort, maximal gains.
“If you can see it, you can have it.”
The problem though, is that they forget to tell you about the other stuff…
Seeing it is just the first step. (In Project Tempest, it’s actually the second, first we deal with the chaos clouding your mind before we get into the clarity, but you get the point.)
Next comes being who you need to be to take action to make the thing a reality.
See - be - do - have.
Or better yet:
See - do - have - be (sometimes becoming more happens waaaay after the fact.)
We know from science that we see more of what’s top of mind, which is why thinking about what you want is important.
It’s like when you start looking for a new car. You suddenly start to see the model you’ve been considering everywhere.
And it goes deeper than that…
The things you see repeatedly start to shape how you view the world.
Seeing bad stuff all the time and you’ll notice the world starts to look like a bad place.
And that can colour who you become and the actions you take, which will perpetuate your reality.
So the message here is two fold:
1. Be careful what you consume and what you’re seeing.
2. Seeing is the start, but it’s not enough. Remember that you still need to be and do to avoid the manifestation trap.
